Day 1: Fundamentals, Scheduling, and The Critical Path
•    Module 1: Introduction

  • Key principles of development projects (The Project Triangle).
  • Navigating the interface and accessing basic views.
  • Setting up calendars and application preferences.


•    Module 2: Task Management & Scheduling

  • Scheduling rules and task types.
  • Entering and editing tasks, durations, and milestones.
  • Establishing dependencies and logical links between tasks.

•    Module 3: Optimization & Constraints

  • Understanding task constraints and deadlines.
  • The Critical Path: Identification, analysis, and strategies for shortening it.
  • Managing lead time, lag, and float (slack).


Day 2: Resources, Costs, and Tracking
•    Module 1: Resource Management

  • Defining resources: Work (Labor), Materials, and Cost.
  • Managing availability, rate tables, and variable costs.
  • Assigning resources and resolving over-allocations (balancing workloads).


•    Module 2: Financial Control

  • Entering fixed costs and one-off expenses.
  • Analyzing project, task, and resource costs.


•    Module 3: Tracking & Reporting

  • The Baseline: Setting and saving the initial project plan.
  • Analyzing deviations and changes against the baseline.
  • Earned Value Analysis: Measuring project performance metrics.
  • Generating standard and custom reports for stakeholders.
